NEW RELEASE: My March, 2023 book from Liturgical Press is my first solo work as an author, titled “Incarnate in Word and Song: Exploring Music in Liturgy and Life.” It explores how music and liturgical music specifically — both in terms of the craft of composition and the art of performing — can inform our sharing of The Word via both liturgical preaching and personal interactions in everyday life. The project includes scripture, liturgical documents, storytelling, and many musical examples, along with preaching samples and examples of “real-life” moments, as well as a vision for a future course of evangelization. I am also delighted to be a co-author for the 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 editions of the liturgical sourcebook “Living Liturgy” from Liturgical Press.  This best-selling annual resource is ideal for parish ministers, liturgists, pastors, planning committees, and RCIA programs. It offers the week’s Sunday readings, plus insightful reflections and background for parish ministers of all types. Written completely fresh each liturgical year, Living Liturgy gives your team members the spiritual preparation they need to become true ministers of the liturgy, by integrating daily living, prayer, and study in one inviting and easy-to-use resource. My writing has included lectionary-based prayers for every celebration in the 2021-2023 editions, dozens of catechetical essays in 2021 and 2022, and scriptural faith sharing prompts for the 2024 edition. The 2021 edition of the resource (and its related materials) was a finalist in the 2021 Association of Catholic Publishers Excellence in Publishing Awards, in the “Resources for Liturgy” category, and the 2023 volume for lectors was awarded an honorable mention at the Catholic Media Association Book Awards.

My Oddwalk friend Shannon Cerneka and I have co-authored a book of 20 prayer services. Published by Twenty-third Publications in 2018, it is titled “Let Us Go Forth!” and is a series of prayer services for liturgical, school, and family occasions. Written with teens in mind, this book contains beautifully crafted prayers that resonate with young people and help give them a deep experience of the faith we share. In addition to various occasions of our Church year, there are also services designed around events of the school year (beginnings, exam time, graduation, and more), making this an excellent resource for schools, faith formation programs, and parish intergenerational events. The scripture passages selected both challenge and honor the deep feelings and questions young people have, and the engaging activities help all explore a facet of our shared faith in greater depth.
